Adalor

Believed to have once been faeries visiting Ærethis who were trapped when the planes were cutoff, the Adalor are seen as magical and strange. The different subspecies look very distinct from each other as well as having different cultures. Unlike most other lineages, Adalor do not reproduce biologically. Being imbued with arcana, they are instantiated or created through emotion, imagination, and magic. The exact nature of this creation is different for each heritage and unknown to outsiders. All Adalor settlements are located in the Adalor Forest though there are emigrants and travelers in other lands.

Boggans

Like all Adalor, Boggans (BOG-gan) live in the Adalor Forest. They have a single large village near the center of the forest with a population of around 75,000.

Physical Traits

Boggans are short and stout, sometimes to the point of being pleasantly plump. The tend to have bushy eyebrows and wild hair. Those that are born thin often eat to gain weight so they won't be picked on.

Cultural Traits

Industrious Crafters   Boggans are known far and wide for being creative crafters. Anything from sculptures to weapons to homes. They don't create anything that isn't intricate and beautiful, at least to the creator. A strong work ethic is of utmost importance to Boggans. Anything work they take on they will do to their best ability and will never take compensation for incomplete work.
Hearth and Home   Once the embodiment of homeliness, Boggans tend to be home bodies who travel mostly to sell their wares abroad. This does not mean that there haven't been Boggan adventurers but only a few dozen over the last hundred years.

Exu

Exu (EK-tsu) are expatriates everywhere they go. Rarely calling any place home for more than a year, they travel seeking knowledge, experience, and adventure.

Physical Traits

Exu have patterns across their dark skin similar to Vitiligo except the patterns have bilateral symmetry. These patterns can be slightly lighter or slightly darker than the rest of their skin but is easily seen.

Silent Speech You can speak telepathically to any creature within 30 feet of you. The creature understands you only if the two of you share a language. You can speak telepathically in this way to one creature at a time.

Cultural Traits

Wanderlust Exu have an affinity for the life of nomads, wanderers, and vagabonds. Their home villages are mostly used as touchstones that they visit only when they want to create new members of their heritage. The population of these villages can range from 10 to 200 but is rarely the same from day to day.
Decorating the Self In addition to their patterned skin, Exu often have tattoos that accent the patterns and wear jewelry including multiple piercings. Different individuals get different tattoos though most will either accent parts of their skin patterns or work with the lines they create.

Slaugh

Sluagh (Slow) are most well known for being pale and secretive. They are unusual in appearance yet are hardly noticeable. They live in a number of small villages throughout the Adalor Forest with populations ranging from 20 to 160.

Physical Traits

Slaugh are created in the image of people's dark, secretive, and creepy thoughts and dreams. This reflects in their secretive nature and unsettling appearance. They have dark gray to black hair and pale ivory to white skin. Their eyes tend to be dark brown or gray and set deep in their sockets.

Unlike most of the civilized species on Ærethis, Sluagh are unable to process vegetation. While they can consume it, it provides them no nutrients and can therefore lead to malnutrition.

Darkvision Coming from the dark twilight forests of the Arcadian realm, you have superior vision in dark and dim conditions. You can see in dim light within 60 feet of you as if it were bright light, and in darkness as if it were dim light. You can’t discern color in darkness, only shades of gray.

The Dark Corners Known for being mysterious and hard to read, Sluagh also tend to go unnoticed in crowds blending in despite their appearance. This isn't a form of camouflage or deception, others just tend to not want to notice them.
